I'm bored and just throwing out a question with no real philisophical worth, but what the hell.

This question of course would pertain only to all of you who have seen the movie "Home Alone".

This movie was filmed in a quintissential home in an ideal town on Chicago's northshore. (Winnetka) This town is also one of the wealthiest towns in the U.S. and really reflects upper-middle class life.

So here's the queston: In direct correlation to the film, which suburb of Boston would most fit the bill (for the producers) to film this movie in?

Amuse me.

My personal pick would be Wellesley. Honorable mentions would be; Winchester, Andover, Cohasset, Belmont, Lexington, Concord and Manchester.

Great minds think alike! Even before reaching the end of your post and reading your list of towns, I thought of Wellesley. Winchester would probably be a good one also, though I'm really thinking Wellesley is the best.

A couple of your suggestions I'm not so sure of: Belmont may be a little too close to the city, a little too almost-urban even though it's on the suburban side. Concord may be too countryish to be really similar to the town in the movie. If you were going to include Concord, you might as well also consider Sudbury, which is a similar exurban town. Also, Lincoln, Weston, and Wayland, which are suburbs rather than exurbs, but still have those winding roads and some areas with woods and fields. Still, all those towns are similar to the movie's setting socio-economically, but not in terms of physical appearance. Wellesley fits it to a T.

I agree entirely. Winchester too but there are less affluent areas within Winchester.

I would say Weston or Wayland. Wellesley is a good choice too. I would even say West Roxbury.

I agree with ogre that Concord is a little too rural. Doesn't quite fit the image.

Wellesley is definitely the answer I would say first but as a Winchester resident I can see that too.

I took the downtown area of Winnetka into account also. Wellesley and Winchester probably fit that depiction the most as well.

That house/neighborhood reminded me of parts of Newton.

Default Good question!

I would have to say the towns in Massachuesetts that most closely resemble the neighborhood in the movie(s) Home Alone are:

-Newton
-Wellesley
-Winchester
-Belmont
-Longmeadow (W. Mass)

There are MANY nice towns in Boston/Mass, but there are just a few communitues that have that true "Home Alone" feel from border to border. The above towns all have classic architecture/tree lined streets....or "movie-set" appearance.
