Does anyone have ideas on the best towns/cities to consider for an urban-like feel that offer decent commutes to the Lexington and Boston/Cambridge areas? Essentially, we are a couple looking to rent luxury housing and would like the ability to walk to restaurants, entertainment, parks, etc. We will have to commute to two different areas. We are not opposed to one person having a longer commute than the other.

We are not opposed to working with a real estate agent but would not know where to start when we would consider towns that cover Lexington to Somerville.

By the way, we need 2 bedrooms.

Well Cambridge/Somerville, but what is your budget?

Davis would likely be your best bet, with a big budget.

Realistically as we hold our noses, $3K-$4K. At $4K the place would have to check every box.

I agree with tysmith95’s recommendation. You should be able to find a nice 2 bedroom in the vicinity of Davis Square with that budget.

Though I guess I don’t know what the luxury apartment market is like in that area. Davis meets your urban and location requirements, but it’s not really a hotbed of new development.

Cambridge, Somerville, and Arlington were what I was thinking.

Yah there is a ton of new build around alewife, but as far as being walkable/urban it leaves a lot to be desired. Davis and Porter have more older housing stock, but the neighborhood is nicer and more walkable.

Consider the new buildings at north end of Moody Street and it’s intersection with Main Street in Waltham. Great urban walkable neighborhood, easy to Lexington, one commuter rail stop to Porter Square where you can connect on to the Red Line (if you dare) to most of Cambridge. Should be a fair bit cheaper than Davis or Porter and easier to keep a car. But of course Camberville is very charming if you have the means.

Revere has the beach, ocean and the T subway as well. Why is no one mentioning this?
