Thank you for the comments! massnative71, couple of reasons: significant other is not wild about some of the towns on the 146 corridor, concerned about resale value and there is a possibility that job situations may change at some point in the not-too-distant future that would make being closer to 495 important.

Fair enough. In that case Upton would be a great choice. Have you also looked in Bellingham? Better than Milford but still more affordable than Franklin or Upton. Decent amenities for a busy couple.

Unless it was really short term, I don't think I'd want to commute from Upton to Providence every day. Those last few miles to the office would be awful. Lots of hour+ commutes.

We're pretty familiar with Bellingham, I don't know that either of us in love with the vibe in that town. It's not bad, I just don't know that it is for us.

Agreed on Bellingham-always gave me kind of a rednecky vibe which really isn't my thing.

That's more mid-90s Bellingham. I think the town has gentrified (that the right word?) a lot since then. Upton is definitely nicer, I was just thinking Bellingham would offer a more balanced commute. What about Mendon?

Mendon isn't a bad suggestion with those commutes. Not much inventory though and much of it is pricier.

Have to agree to disagree on Bellingham-I'm there on the daily and I'm not seeing a dramatic change.

Thanks for the comments. I can't quite put my finger on it, but Bellingham just doesn't seem that nice to me. Upton seems an order of magnitude nicer. Although, I was considering a home in Milford so what do I know. That downtown area in Milford seems like it has some real potential, there's just not much exciting there right now. I had a beer at that Turtle or whatever place and it was just a dive, nothing special. I checked out that Red Rock restaurant in Upton, just had a few Start Line beers ... seemed like a decent place to have a few beers and hang out. Would be nice if there was a little more in their town center, but not a deal-breaker by any means.

Bellingham never seemed bad to me, even in the 80s. I agree with the previous posters, and would definitely but by vote in for Mendon or Upton, nice semi-rural vibe, great schools but along the 495 corridor. Devils advocate here: Have you considered Hopedale?
