Haha, that's for sure. Boston is the budget buy in comparison. I snagged an amazing single family home in Cambridge for under $1.5MM when I moved in 2016. Good luck finding that in NYC or SF. Driving to New Hampshire and especially Maine, I'm amazed by the degree that the economy is dependent on Boston. There is really not much economically past Bangor or the northern half of NH. Absolutely gorgeous and accessible nature though.

Cambridge is probably the equivalent of Brooklyn heights NYC (2.5M minimum for a single house) and palo alto in bay area (1.5 M for a literal tear-down cape)

Although, there is probably more opportunity to make much much more money than Boston in those 2 places... but for priced-out average joe in tech its either seattle, austin or boston

However, i would like to a see a much larger presence by google, Microsoft, facebook... only anazon has been building up a major presence here...

Google is already at over 1,500 people and growing. Tech is desperate for talent, and increasingly moving all the highly educated metro areas. Coordinating across offices is a huge pain, but less of a pain than being unable to hire talent.

If you can get up to 5 cities, then you might (start) to be taken seriously. Boston is NOT a budget buy by any standards. It is likely in a bubble right now and due for a significant correction.

What??? Do you not realize that the vast majority of Maine's population is clustered along 95 between Kittery and Bangor? The northern half is very empty, not too unlike CA north of the Bay Area. NH same thing, most of the population is from Concord south (and within an hour at most from MA). Always has been that way.
