Westwood, Medfield, Hingham, Duxbury rural?
I have driven around Concord and Sudbury. Both were beautiful but felt quite rural. How do Westwood, Medfield, Hingham, and Duxbury compare? Thanks.

Parts of Westwood are quite rural, although other parts are definitely suburban, especially around Islington. We like it so far.

Hingham is definitely less rural than Concord, Sudbury, Duxbury or even Westwood. I don't really know about Medfield. As said earlier, parts of Westwood are more developed than others. Duxbury is probably in the same general league as Concord or Sudbury but has a different feel being on the ocean and all. I recommend checking out each town if you can.

I hope to get back to Boston soon. It is hard to tell online what the areas are like and we only saw a few towns while we were out there. I like all the input.
Thank you.

Depends
Well I guess it depends on what you mean by rural. If your in a really big city like NYC or LA then I guess I put Duxbury and Hingham in the rural category for you. But if your in a basic suburbia then I'd put Hingham as a bustling Suburb and Duxbury a quiet town that has amenities.

I guess we are trying to find an area that has many neighborhoods and that is not mostly long wooded roads between homes. Thank you.

I'd say either Hingham or Duxbury could fit the bill. Though Hingham is closer to Boston and would allow you to get into town a bit easier if that important to you.

Westwood could fit the bill, too.

I see the rail goes to Back Bay from Westwood. Does the rail from Hingham go to Back Bay or do you have to walk from South Station. How are the schools and rec departments in Westwood or Hingham? Thanks for any help.

The town is noted for its excellent school system. The schools are mostly new and have beautiful grounds. Students score exceptionally well on SAT's and MCAS. Additionally, there are private schools here, both private and parochial. There are many other amenities for children and adults such as Conservatory of Music, Skating arena, indoor baseball, South Shore COuntry Club, many tennis courts, driving range, movie theatre, dance school, good preschools etc.
