Commute from Nashua to Waltham
Can anyone tell me the approximate time (and frustration) a rush hour commute would take from Nashua to Waltham? Thanks

What time of day will you be commuting exactly?

This is for a new job so I'm not sure, but I'm guessing I'll need to arrive by 8:00 or 8:30 and wrap up at 5:30 or 6:00. Thanks

Well google maps says "35.0 mi – about 50 mins"... I think that if I were you, I'd leave the house around 6:30am and see how that goes for a start. I think to leave at 7am would be cutting it too close. And occasionally rush hour accidents will mess the traffic up even more. And if a 6:30am leave time gets you there too early, find yourself a good breakfast or coffee shop before work.
Also, when the traffic is light, beware the speed traps along Rte. 3. I've seen a lot of state troopers parked in the median strip at all hours of the day.

[SIZE=2]Good luck to you as you will be spending a lot of time in your car. If you leave before 7 am than you might just make it before it really gets clogged.

Nashua to Waltham commute
Hi,
You won't want to hear this, but the commute will be terrible during peak rush hour times. I considered taking a job in Nashua and doing the reverse commute up 128/Route 3 from MA. Traffic going in the Nashua to Waltham direction during morning rush hour was crawling along at 5-10 mph for long stretches in some places, such as around Waltham and also where Route 3 feeds into 128 South.
You should test the commute to see what times of day the traffic is better. My guess is during peak traffic hours, it could take 1.5 to 2 hours to get from Nashua to Waltham.

Thanks for all of your replies. I think we're going to need to live closer. Is Waltham a nice town to live in?

The commute from Nashua to Waltham would be hellish. I know someone who worked in Waltham. Sold their house in Waltham, moved to Nashua. Couldn't stand the commute, wound up sleeping Mon-Fri on the couch in the office.
Waltham is not the most desirable of Boston's suburbs, but it's perfectly liveable.
