North Shore vs NH? (Boston, Plymouth: houses, rent, travel)

My husband and I have just relocated up North and are looking for a good area to settle. We need to be North of Boston (but within about 45 minutes) and really liked Reading, but a lot of the houses there are out of our price range. What do people think about Danvers? We have a little one on the way so we'd like to be in a good community for families. Also, what about Nashua, NH? My husband will have to commute to Boston, but not every day. What is the commute like from Nashua vs from Danvers area? Thanks!

Danvers is a GREAT CHOICE for you. Not sure your price range for a home, Danvers can be a bit high; but as far as location ( to highways, malls, shopping, etc.) you couldn't make a better choice. I lived there for a number of years, so I know it pretty well - Danvers that is. You might also want to look at Beverly, Mass. Probably a bit lower prices in homes, but another great place to live. Yep .... lived there too. : ) And both these towns are MUCH closer to Boston than Nasua NH .... a lot closer!! There's a number of other smaller towns in and around the North Shore, just really depends on your price range and do you like rual, suburban areas, country? The North Shore is a great place to live. The other thing I might suggest to you, is the South Shore. Plymouth Mass and that area or even Mid or Upper Cape Cod. (which is what I'm currently looking at).

I would agree that Danvers might be well worth looking into. Your commute to Boston would probably be easier than Nashua, almost certainly so. Nashua you could get in via Route 3, which tends to be a parking lot in the morning, as does 93 south. As long as it's not every day (and if you could adjust the travel hours, after 8:30 AM traffic is much reduced on either!)

yea danvers is great. so is beverly. id recommend both highly. peabodys ok too

I'm a fan of Danvers. I'm not a fan of living in NH and working in MA. With glas prices the way they are it doesn't add up.

Also you would need to take into consideration that if you live in New Hampshire and work in Mass, besides the gas expense, the horrendous commute, you would also be paying Massachusetts income tax! To me that's taxation without representation (if you pay taxes there, you should be able to VOTE there as well IMO) and just plain wrong, but that's how it is...
