Where you will be working is important. Even what type of industry you are in. Some industry centers are located in specific areas. As someone up above said - commute here is very difficult and if you have jobs lined up or are in a specific industry we can help you make your commute somewhat palatable by suggesting cities/towns to minimize your commute time. If you have jobs that lend themselves to working anywhere (for ex: teachers) then most places will suffice but in any case we need more info to help you.

what kind of house do you want for 700K. How many bedrooms, baths, sq footage? Any other house requirements?

What type of community do you want besides good schools - urban, rural? Proximity to anything in particular?

You want nice and affordable. What is nice and affordable to you?

I think it would be tough to find something in Westwood in that budget. Two years ago it would have been tough but doable. No it basically impossible.
Yeah, Westwood is expensive, and I don't even find it that nice. Its OK, but for those prices? Yikes. It looks like Randolph and Braintree but my god, 2x the cost. Although the new are by 128 CR stop is pretty cool.

Also OP said they are workig in Boston, so commutable to Boston within an hour is in play.
*EDIT I meant Walpole**

You clearly haven't seen much of Westwood then, those towns are nothing alike.

Sorry. I was thinking of Walpole. Nevermind.. I get them confused a lot, even though at one time I lived on the border of WW/Canton.

We plan on getting part time jobs. We both have pretty good pensions. My husband is retired with a police pension but is also an Rn. I don’t think he’d have to travel into Boston for that. The struggle really is to find a nice home for the money. With the market the way it is that seems to be the main hurdle.

I see Walpole as more similar to Canton, than either of those two towns. Randolph and Braintree really aren't that alike either.

Norfolk or Plymouth County should work well.

I agree that Walpole is probably more similar to Canton than Randolph or Braintree.

If you don’t need to get to Boston it makes sense to look further out, closer to 495 than 128.

You mean Braintree and Randolph? I think Braintree has a greater variety, and quite different from one section of town to another. Randolph is fairly uniform.
