Default Waltham, MA area anyone?

Ok I need advice. There is a possiblity we will be moving to the Waltham, MA area for my husband's job this summer. As we are not that familiar with the area can anyone recommend some good towns to begin our search? We are looking for less than a 30 minute commute for DH, great public schools and things for me to do as a SAHM with 2 2 and under. We are hoping to spend around 500k - 600k on a house. Any suggestions?
We will be going up to look in person but I am not allowed to travel now (due in 5 weeks) and then will have a 6 yo 2 yo and a nb to travel with after I recover from my c-section so any and all opinions are welcome!
Thanks!
