At Drury High School in North Adams they're teaching seventh graders (12 and 13-year-olds) about oral sex and rimming. They're telling them to use saran wrap as a protective barrier.

It's been awhile since I was in school and took a health class, but I don't remember learning anything like this back then.

This "Get Real" curriculum has been the subject of a lot of controversy over the past several years and many school districts have outright banned it.

We covered these topics in my middle school (7th or 8th grade) back in the early 90's. I remember, pretty well actually, our Health/Sex ed class.

We learned about contraceptives and protection, including oral protection.

Nobody discussed Saran wrap though. The discussion centered around commercially available products.

Same in the mid 80s. Pretty important as AIDS was a burgeoning thing and understanding it was just coming about.

We didn't learn about this in sex ed. Then again, we were taught that a store-brand version of cheap plastic resealable bags filled with oil and then tossed around the room demonstrated the effectiveness of condoms, so maybe not somewhere to emulate.

I remember learning this but can’t say I’ve ever used Saran Wrap for anything. I’d rather not do the deed at all than have to go that route.

I think the point was that horny kids are going to do what they want to do. First time I heard about a Dental Dam was in that sex Ed class in 7/8th grade, but I have no idea where to get one even today as an adult. With that said, if these kids are going to do oral, I doubt they are going to have proper protection. I’m going to stop there but some might see where I’m going with this
