Default Chicopee, Greenfield

We drove through these areas a few weeks ago although, one can hardly judge by just driving through they seemed nice, does anyone have any input?

One thing I can't quite figure out is, with the 'mortgage crisis', rents still seem high?

I lived in Chicopee my whole life up until this past Sept. I liked it, it does however have some better areas then others, as does most towns. My best advice to you is if you want to move here I would recommend the Aldenville or Fairview area. But because these are the nicer areas the rent is going to be a little more expensive. What kind of rent are you looking to pay?

I think you should be able to find something in both the Aldenville area and the Fairview area in that price rage.

I wish I could help you out about Greenfield but I never lived there and rarely visited there.

Good luck on your move and whatever place you decide on.

I love Chicopee, I lived there with my husband when we were first married since he grew up there. I agree with the previous poster about Aldenville/Fairview area being the best. Chicopee Center isn't that bad, my husband grew up in that area and went to Chicopee High. It's close to everything you need whether it be Wal-Mart, grocery shopping, and restaurants.

I think it's better and cheaper than Greenfield.

Just about anyplace is better than Greenfield.

The buildings are okay; the people are 50 years behind the rest of Massachusetts; the schools are so bad the Town Council is requesting that the state take them into receivership. The police and fire departments have threatened if they don't get raises they won't answer calls. And, then there's the racist and anti-semitic incidents.
