WinterWonder is on a distinguished road
Default Expenditures Per Student

I had pointed this out briefly on another thread, but it got buried. Also will post on NH board.

Maybe someone can clarify the difference for me. When I researched expenditures per student, most MA schools spend between $6,000 - 10,000 per student.

When looking at NH schools, most of the towns (with the "better" school systems) were telling me between $500 - 900 per student.

How could it be so different?? I'm sure these numbers would have an impact on the quality of education the children receive, would it not?

I had 2 comment that throwing money at a school doesn't necessarily make it better or have better performing grades. Maybe so. BUT, I am sure money DOES affect the level and quality of extracurricular activities, trips, additional programs offered and overall opportunities provided to the students, etc.

Most teachers I speak with say expenditures per student is a very important factor to consider.

Any insight would be appreciated...

That amount of $$$ per pupil isn't right, I don't know what that's based on. If it were true, they wouldn't have the high property tax rates that they do in NH...
