Default Air Force retiree

Late Oct 08, I can and will retire after 20 years. My family wants to relocate to Mass in close proximity to Hanscom AFB(IT field). We are looking for a house between 200-250K but honestly I am hesitate due to cost. We don't know much about the area so I've been hitting the Internet hard. Through my travels I've noticed locals alaways have the best information. If possible, can I please get tax information or anything that you feel is valuable for family of 5(wife, 15, 12 and 8 yr old). Again, any info and advice is great, thanks.

Hello yes I feel there is great info here at City Data . So here it is my Pay it forward and I'm sure others will give you very valuable input. If you're looking for adequate square footage, 3-4 bedrooms ...all of the towns around Hanscom are very high..maybe 350k...I don't know what the waltham ma re market is doing maybe someone could speak to that..but close is a lot of money...good luck keltic

Waltham is also quite high, and for not-very-nice little houses. Location, location...
Unfortunately, I can't think of any town anywhere near Hanscome that has houses in that price range. You'd have to get way out into central Mass. or the Outback equivalent to even see a house in that price range. And I don't mean a newer suburban-style house- I mean beat-up older smaller places.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

You are exactly right I'm glad you said it as it is...beat up smaller houses. In fact I've noticed that the media says we are in a buyers market. Well I'm from MA and now live in NH and I look at houses for sale all the time ( No I'm not a realtor or a lottery winner I just like it ...and I see a lot of older beat up houses on the market. I also see if something nice comes on the market it goes fast.
