Reports: Teen girls made pact to get pregnant - Yahoo! News (broken link)
What going on in Gloucester? |

is there any way the state could keep these kids from getting welfare? (I know, a lot of women on welfare got pregnant on purpose just to get it, but still...)
didn't Gloucester HS ever do that project w/ the egg/annoying crying doll that showed how difficult child rearing is? w/ all the technology available now, these classes should be reinstated w/ lifelike, hi-tech dolls that actually poop, pee, and cry nonstop like real babies! what, did these kids think "well, if Jamie Lynn Spears can do it, so can we!" but forget Jamie Lynn has the $$$ to raise a kid (or at least hire a nanny)?in all seriousness, I feel bad for these kids. I grew up too fast (but thank god I don't have kids!) and regret missing out on fun "kid stuff" like the prom, hanging out w/ dormmates late night in college, and other carefree stuff. I can't think of anything good that comes out of having a child at 16 and I'll be really interested in what sort of rape charges come about b/c of this (what sort of young man knowingly knocks up a teen girl?) |

One of the fathers is a 24 year old homeless guy. There are evidently 17 girls that are pregnant in Gloucester at this school. The oldest girl is 16 years old. Statutory rape charges are evidently on the horizon for these fathers OR for this father; whatever the case may be.
It's extremely sad & unfortunate for them all. Just think, here they are 17 of them pregnant, most 16 & under. They will all be "grandparents" most likely when they are all in their early 30's. Life in a nutshell for them, as history repeats itself over and over again and all of us in society are watching it all and not doing a thing about it. Who knows what the answer is now. People with kids really really thought & think they're ALL on the right track with raising kids? Forget about it after hearing this one, what a downright embarrassment for this "north shore" community! From what it said on the news last night, a lot of the girls have one parent homes and their parents are hardly ever at home for most of them. So the majority of the girls feel 'unloved & unwanted". HOW a baby will make them feel more loved & wanted is beyond me. Whatever floats their boat, it's too late now, their due dates are already marked on their calendars. It's pretty sad though isn't it! Their family & friends will be having their cute "baby showers" for them (yo, come one, come all, and inviting every one in creation to get the gifts for them! People that haven't seen them or for that matter even heard from these teens I bet!!!). Why wouldn't they? They'll of course want (& oh ya, I forgot NEED) all their "baby stuff" that they'll need & will have to have, one way or another. I wonder if they'll get their "top of the line" strollers? We'll be seeing them on the news all marching down to their local Dunkin Donuts for their large "ice coffee's" that they have to have; all with cigarettes dangling out of their mouths like the rest of them! Pushing their new top of the line strollers along! Of course all thinking they "look so great" as they stroll a long through the streets of Gloucester, all with their new "toys" & infants in tow. They'll need everything they can get for them & why wouldn't they? Every one does when they're having kids, even when they're married! Then what will the majority of this crew do? Oh they'll waltz right down to their nearest welfare office whining away & whining away that they have "nothing" and don't deserve to live "this" way & that they need their "WICS $$$" that's "OWED" to them, which is paid for by none other than? You guess it! All of us right here in society that have to witness these atrocious stunts. So, what else is new? It's only another vicious gross circle and SO cruel this time that there's so many of them and here we are all being subjected to this selfish, sad behavior. There's nothing any one can do about it now. Just sit back and watch these little b******s grow up to turn out just like their mothers. It's extremely sick that all the girls were "high 5-ing" each other when they got their results back from the school nurse. How sad was that one to hear? When they all could use a good dope slap and that's all it would take, but NO, that's not going to happen now a days, course not. ![]() Unbelievable..so this is the new "feather in the cap" image to have these days? Oh brother, give us all a break, I'm glad I didn't have kids if this is what's going to happen. I feel bad for the city of Gloucester, dealing with this one! ![]() Last edited by CityGirl52; 06-20-2008 at 08:29 AM. |

I wonder how many will face reality before the babies are born and put them up for adoption for capable people to raise them?

Stats would show that very few unmarried/teenage birthers give up their kids for adoption.
It would appear that the grandparents almost always step in and essentially raise (and certainly pay for) the teen and the baby. Not sure what these idiot girls thought of when they said they'd "raise their babies together." Probably meant they'd drag out the strollers together or hang at the Dunkin' together- hardly that they'd live some sort of communal life. I wish the "chattering classes" wouldn't keep framing things as "mommie versus high-powered career" with the assumption that girls like this see "no future" because they aren't going to be doctors or something. Parenthood is a choice. If one doesn't choose it, you support yourelf or dependents. Most of us who aren't supporting dependents have jobs, not careers, and for that matter, most who *are* supporting dependents have jobs, not careers. These pathetic girls want an identity, not a career or any such. And no doubt the unfortunate grandparents will step up "for the grandchild." |

Get this one, of course the grandparent is going to step up with this one, they have to, there kids are just babies themselves having kids. It was also just on 'talk radio" just this minute that...say the teen moms continue with their education paid for by who else? (US) on through to college? Then the new game plan now is that the State will automatically pay the grandparent $15.00 an hour to babysit their kids while they're in school or working! Yes, you're hearing this right, so that means a lot of State checks will be mailed to Gloucester in the not to distant future! Pa-lease!

Since when do school nurses give and give results on pregnancy tests??? I guess this is the new "cradle to college" mentality...
Just think, if the state does a good job of supporting these girls and their babies, how many more will there be next year! How sad that this was a goal and not an "accident"..... Quote:

Is this really surprising? Poor working-class towns like Gloucester are the ghettos of New England.

Gloucester is hardly a "poor ghetto." I know there are a lot of multi-generation local people, and I gather few people want to move out of town or move away. It's a working-class community, not a "poor ghetto." There are many, many places in Mass. that fit that description long before Gloucester.
Nothing is going on in Gloucester that is happening in any other non-elite community. Unmarried childbearing is increasingly common, especially among flashy celebrities. Teenage girls aren't bright enough to connect the dots that their lives aren't going to be like Jessica Biel's or Nicole Ritchie or someone. Non-married childbearing is in every celeb magazine and newspaper. It is certainly a "thing to do," not only among older (pushing 40) women who want to have children at the last minute. I imagine these girls know how to use birth control, they choose not to. It's dreadful, but it's true. |
