Default Kingston elementary and intermediate school

Does anyone have personal experience with Kingston Elementary and Intermediate schools? We are considering purchasing a home in Kingston, but have been put off by the negative comments about the Silver Lake School District. We will be moving back to NJ in a few years, so we aren't too concerned about the Middle and High Schools (except as it would impact resale of our home!) as our kids are still young and will still be in elementary school by then. The test scores are really not bad at all, not all that different from the 'better' school districts like Duxbury and Hingham. So, can anyone give me some personal experience at the schools? Id really appreciate it!

My daughter just competed 6th grade at Kingston Intermediate. We moved here from out of state 4 years ago the summer before she entered 3rd grade. I don't have any experience with the elementary bulilding, but my neighbors have been pleased. The intermendiate school has had diffuculy finding a principal since a wonderful principal retired before we moved here. They have hired someone new to take over this coming school year. My daughter is a somewhat advanced student and was not challenged at this school. They had a gifted and talented program but they did away with that to make room for all day K. In general I would rate KIS as an average school. They offer no extra curricular activities and the teachers don't go above and beyond at all. If you have a special needs student, from what I hear they will practically roll out the red carpet for them.

I haven't had any personal experience with Kingston schools. I have had friends and customers that have (I have customers who purchased in Kingston that will be sending their children to school there this fall for the first time). All were/are very pleased with the elementary/middle school grades. You're right about the high school. It hasn't received high praise from parents in the past few years, as well as test scores weren't outstanding.

Its difficult to really access feedback from personal experience. If a child does poorly...its the school systems fault as far as the parents are concerned. If a child flourishes its usually presented as my child is gifted, and or we as parents are the reason for her achievements...rarely is the school mentioned for helping.
