Wink What is wrong with Billerica??

I have been reading the comments about Billerica......because I am looking at property, and it seems to be lower that some other ares I have looked at. WHY??? Power plant?? not nuclear?? have to look into that.
I lived in Revere and Winthrop.....do not ever want to go to Revere......my son and I want to return after he graduates from high school,,,,,,,we both detest SoCal where we are now. I find it kind of ironic how many people on this forum are going back to MA from CA.
I do not need to worry about the school, however if the schools are not good that says something about the town. We may stay closer to where we are more familiar...Saugus or Wakefield (which are both more expensive than Billerica)......What about Tewksbury, Chelmsford??? I may go outside of 495...I have 4 yrs to do this, hopefully the real estate market will recover in SoCal by then...do not want to sell a house that I could have sold for close to 600K and now probably only cold get 450K....have to consider taxes in various communities also......
I have been gone for 5 yrs, will go back next summer in 2009, son and I will just decide from about 3-4 towns.....thank you for any info on Billerica or surrounding towns.

Wakefield and Chelmsford would be more upscale that Billerica, so maybe look there to start. There are certainly bargains around. You might also like to look in Westford. Good luck.
