i am currently living in pensacola , fl and would like to move northeast . i am leaning towards massachusetts at the moment and would like some opinions on the areas up there. employment isnt important since i will be transferring through the postal service . schools aren't important i dont have any children of school age. i make $51,00o . preferably not somewhere that i have a large chance of getting mugged and/or raped.
any suggestions ? thank you in advance. |

Hi mellowmel... Are you considering relocating to someplace near the coast, or would you be more likely to be in the western part of the state? We're lucky enough to have cities and towns of all sizes, so you'll have to give us a little more to go on. I guess it would be helpful to know what you like to do in your downtime, are you better off in a small town with mom-n-pop stores, are you looking for the ultimate shopping mall experiences, culture and ethnic restaurants, what size population would you be most comfortable in, etc.
I'm more familiar with the north shore areas, and areas close to the New Hampshire, so once you've narrowed down your search area a bit, maybe I can help. It sounds like you're open to pretty much everything except for the inner city areas. I can say that the Massachusetts shorelines are beautiful, the south shore's water is warmer, north shore is rockier, all sorts of history throughout the state, if that interests you at all ![]() |

ive actually been considering your area , south new hampshire , seeing as it is a beautiful state and ive done some searching on yahoo real estate and found a few in that area i could afford . my dilemma is that i have family in south windsor, ct and would like to be close to them . but new hampshire seems so much nicer and still wouldnt be extremely far. my ideal place to live is somewhere i can afford with little violence. im more of a homebody so social scenes are not important. are there any areas you would suggest in your state ?

There are some nice little towns both in Massachusetts and New Hampshire that might be nice for you to consider. I'm not sure if your post office job is in the office or not, but much of southern NH is considered rural routes, so there are not many "walking letter carriers" except in the cities like Manchester or Nashua. Neither is considered particularly violent, but your main criteria seems to be for a peaceful and safe community, and those are small cities with all of the things that go along with city living. New Hampshire has plenty of small towns right along the border that you might consider. Take a look at google maps, see what looks doable for you in terms of your comute, and come on over to the New Hampshire forum. There are a great group of people who will be very open and honest about what this state is and is not
