Default Relocation from San Diego

Here is what we're looking for and our situation:
We'd like a minimum 2K sq ft, 4bdrm, 2bath, 10K sq ft lot (we have 3 boys under 3 and 2 big dogs) at $400-$450K.
A nice, family-friendly community w/good schools and access to commuter rail.
I will be working from home (1-2 days/wk) and will be visiting with clients primarily in Boston but also the rest of the Northeast (ME, NH, VT, CT, RI) w/some national travel as well so access to airport would be ideal.

I've heard Framingham, Marlborough, and my husband likes Plymouth. Are there any other places we should look into? We're moving into temporary housing in MA next month.

Thanks so much!

I think Hopkinton, Southborough & Westborough would be better bets - nice communities w/ better school systems & commuter rail access into Boston.

I'll second the first reply, Framingham and Marlborough are ok. I little congested mostly populated by Brazillian/Portuguese. honestly the towns have come down a few pegs the last couple years. If you want to stay in the direction go with Natick. Plymouth is nowhere near there and it is country setting.

Not sure how easy it will be to find everything you want in one place. Finding a 2000 sq.ft. home in a great school district with transportation under $500k is a tall order.

Plymouth is no where near Marlborough. Marlborough is near Boston, and Plymouth is near Cape Cod. Marlborough is nice, and it is a fairly safe town.

I am actually moving to Plymouth in a short amount of time, and I can barely wait. A new movie studio is coming to Plymouth, and a few celebrities have already bought their houses here in Plymouth. If you're looking to get away from the movie scene, then I wouldn't suggest Plymouth, but only for that reason. Plymouth is beautiful, and worth living there. And, it's right near the Cape, which is another plus.

Two good private High School's near Plymouth are Notre Dame and Sacred Heart.

Where is your temporary housing? I am sure there is a good reason for that as a starting base. How far along are you in the actual research of the various aspects? Do you know anyone there, relatives, friends and/or associates? What fields of work? Client base already established?

If MBTA commuter rail is important...

I would suggest Franklin, Sharon, Westborough, Grafton, Southborough, Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Littleton, Acton, Reading,Mansfield, Norfolk.

Marlborugh has actually risen significantly over the past 10-15 years. The Brazilian population represesnts statistically about 5% Marlborough's total population. They in fact are wonderfully hardworking people who have added a bit of spice to the town. There are now a number of very good Brazilian restaurants in Marlborough. So if you like a bit of International flavor along with everything else that is good about Marlborough. I would take others comments with a grain of salt and see for your self!

Check out Canton and Stoughton. Both on the commuter rail. Convenient to major highways and Boston (Stay away from Randloph). Also Middleboro/Carver.
