Default "Lake" Near Lowell??

Hey everyone! NJ native here with fond memories of Lowell. I'm hoping you can help me remember the location of this "lake" near Lowell my cousin used to take me as a kid. The reason I say "lake" is because, from what I can remember, I don't think it's an actual lake and open to the public. All I can remember is riding bikes for a good while west on Pawtucket St. from Salem St. We'd get to this convenience store on the side of the road and around the back/side of the store is where we'd climb up to get to this "lake". When I think about it now, it reminds me of a water-filled rock quarry. It must have been a well-known spot because I can remember it being littered with beer bottles and grafitti all over the rocks. Also, there was a 20-30 foot cliff people would jump off of into the water. I think I have pictures of the place but I'd have to dig for them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

There's a lake in No. Andover and there's many reservoir's/ponds in Andover that I can think of that might be what you're referring to possibly?

Here's info on the Andover reservoir's/ponds. There's one that is right along Lowell Street that I'm wondering may be that is the one you were thinking about possibly? It's Haggett's Pond which isn't too far from Barron's Country Store along Lowell Street in Andover though NOT in Lowell, it's the next town over from it. Does that ring a bell or sound familiar?

Here's a list of the Andover reservoir's & ponds:

Andover Reservoir Landmarks
Bakers Meadow Pond
Bakers Meadow Reservoir
Shawsheen River Reservoir
Shawsheen River Reservoir
Shawsheen River Reservoir
Haggetts Pond
Fosters Pond
Ames Pond
Merrimack River Reservoir
Brackett Pond
Lawrence Reservoir
North Canal Reservoir
Osgood Pond
Mill Pond Stevens Pond
Sutton Pond
Field Pond
Martins Pond
Mill Pond
Stevens Pond
Farnums Mill Pond

Here's info from the "wikipedia"....Lake Cochichewick which is a lake in North Andover, Massachusetts that collects water from Weir Hill and other local uplands. Its overflow drains into the Cochichewick River which joins the Merrimack. Brooks School, a private co-educational prep school, is located on the shores of the lake.
For the past century, Lake Cochichewick has been North Andover's main supply of drinking water and public access to the lake was forbidden. In May 2002, however, the town began issuing boating permits:
Certain watercrafts are allowed and must be designed to be manually propelled by oars or paddles. Rowing shells, johnboats, dinghies, rowboats, canoes and kayaks are acceptable as long as the occupants are isolated from contact with the lake. Boats must not have any thru-holes (e.g. self-bailers) that would allow contact between the occupants and the lake water. Electric motors are acceptable as an alternate form of propulsion. The maximum length of a motorized craft is 15 feet. Inflatable boats, windsurfers and seaplanes are not allowed. No domestic animals are allowed to be in boats, on the ice, or in the water at any time.
As Merrimack Valley was once highly industrialized, there has been concern about the levels of contaminants such as mercury in Lake Cochichewick and other local waters. However, recent tests have shown a significant drop in mercury levels in fish such as yellow perch and largemouth bass. A spokesperson for the state Department of Environmental Protection said:
It takes a long time for mercury to build up in the environment, and our thought is that it will take quite a bit of time to leave the environment.
This is showing us that in a relatively short period of time we can have some dramatic reductions, obviously the move to severely restrict mercury emissions from trash incinerators as well as closing down all state medical waste incinerators really has had a positive impact.

May be some one knows of a pond/reservoir in Lowell, I saw info on the river, but not anything like the above...so may be if you just keep checking here randomly some one will come up with your answer!

Good luck!
