Crime Rates
We are considering relocating to Boston area for a job, from Memphis area. The numbers posted look pretty good to me...in Memphis, we have you beat.
2008 Murder to Date - 168 with a population of 674,028, for a rate of 1 murder per (4012) residents.
This is about 2x the rate of the worst numbers previously cited. We would gladly accept any of the above. Try having helicopters flying overhead looking for criminals, or folks following people home from the mall to their homes to rob and potentially murder them. And we live in the best part of Memphis. Memphis has number 2 most violent city in US. So please be happy by those numbers. I would be...

Have you ever been to Hartford, New Haven, or Springfield those cities are 90% ghettos unlike Boston which is probaly 35% ghettos...any city around 600,000 should have at least 100 murders a year...

"should have at least"
Wow, the reason Boston doesn't is because its residents do not lock themselves into stereotypes of what a large city "should" be. The people care too much for it to be waste lands like Philly, Det or old textile-towns of New England like like Springfield, Lawrence....Man, I hope with the election of our current president cultural laziness and stereotypes will disappear. This thread is alarming.

I wasn't saying should be like... damn why isnt there? I was responding to a prior post in which someone from Boston wrote some idiotic thing about how in towns like Springfield or Hartford you have to be involved in gangs or drugs to get shot my point was no you dont and much less so then Boston...as far as saying that people of Boston dont lock themselves into stereotypes? Thats absurd just cause theres less homicides than other citites doesnt mean Boston isnt filled with ignorant idiots...
