I've heard great things about Gentle Giant. They're not cheap but they have a good reputation:

My family used ABF when we moved from CA to FL. It was THE most affordable way to go. They delivered it where we wanted. We loaded it and had them pick it up 24 hours later. It was the most affordable of all the options we looked at, and it was convenient.
One thing you should know is...pack your stuff very, very well. The ABF trucks don't have shocks like a moving van, so you have to be a bit more thorough. With that said, we plan to use ABF again when we move next summer. Good luck with your move! |

I do not live in your area, however I am the warehouse manager of Storage Services in Albuquerque New Mexico. My company is similar to Door to Door. There are many pros to using both companies. In my opinion, there are many more benefits to using Door to Door. Visit Door to Doors website and there is a pros/cons list between the two. I know from personal experience that smaller companies are more flexible and affordable. Many times, we have people call us outraged at the price they were quoted from PODS. Although, if you are moving cross-country, then PODS is a pretty smart choice. Hope this helps.

we are moving cross-country this summer and looked into using PODS. granted, moving 2500 miles is going to cost a lot more than Ny to MA, but my husband found PODS to be very expensive...like $10K for what we need.
so, we will not be using PODS for this move, but you may find it good for you |

We are going with a local moving company we found on craigslist that is bonded and insured- Special Forces Moving. They are reasonable (cheaper than Pods and Door to Door) and their quote included EVERYTHING!

ABF U-Pack has gotten good reviews everywhere. I worked with them a bit and they are very decent and reasonable, good to work with. THey will drop of a trailer and you fill up how much space you need. Packing is not easy and you might want to hire someone to help you. Buy lots of moving blankets at Home Depot. Get lots of twine to tie things up so they don't move. Read the ABF website for tips on how to do all this.
