Best Pizza in the Boston Area?
The old saying goes, "When pizza is great, it's great. When it's bad, it's still pretty good!"
We, as a society, have a universal love affair with pizza and certainly have our choice of terrific -- and not-so-terrific -- places around the Boston area. In fact, some towns seem to be entirely comprised of pizza places (along with banks and hair salons). Here are my current favorites, subject to change:
Santarpio's, East Boston -- Long-time old-school, Italian-style favorite. I love the slightly burnt crust with the ample toppings and fresh tomato and mozzarella. This is fresh, homemade pizza at its finest. The place is a bit of a dive and the waiters are sometimes brusque but always pleasant to us. Good luck finding parking and the possibility of waiting in line outside the entrance!
Spruce Pond Creamery, Franklin -- Delicious, organic flatbread pizzas that please the traditional pizza lover as well as those who are devout health food nuts. They even have non-nitrate pepperoni!
Abbondanza II, Norwood -- Amazing crust, high quality toppings, tomato as good as Santarpio's, and the right amount of cheese result in some of the best pizza I've had anyhere in New England. There's a romantic-style Italian restaurant connected to this take-out place that is not romantic and about 120 degrees upon entering the narrow waiting area.
So, what are your favorite pizza places around the Boston area?

Mmmmh Santarpio's used to live a couple of miles from there, nothing like takeout pizza in a paper bag.

Hands down, Pizzeria Regina. But, it has to be the one in the North End.
Also, Whole Foods has excellent pizza as well.

T Anthony's on Comm. Ave does a very decent pizza. We also enjoy Harvard House of Pizza on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge. At both places, our pizza of choice is a large spinach and pepperoni.

Had a prosciutto and mushroom pizza with a tomato/ricotta sauce at Pizzeria Regina's in the North End one time. It was perhaps the best pizza I've ever had. Mmmmm...my mouth is watering.

I like Mama Lisa's and the ricotta cheese pizza from The Paddock, both in Somerville. Oh how I miss it! The pizza out here stinks!
