Going to the Berkshires...what to do
Hubby and I are heading for a long weekend away at the end of Sept... looking for some things to do... we know there will be great hiking around that time as the leaves will begin to change...everyone tells me about the Norman Rockwell Museum...what else? First time away w/o kids in quite some time...looking forward to it...

Stroll through the little shops in Lenox and Great Barrington, check out some apple orchards and get some cider doughnuts (Bartletts is cute), go to the top of Mt Greylock, see a play.

It is the Massachusetts Museum of Modern Art. It is a pretty cool museum. It is in a weird area. Worth a look, I think the entrance fee is a bit hefty for what you get. The Norman Rockwell museum as you mentioned earler is very interesting. I enjoyed it. I think you can still visit Edith Whartons home in Lenox..called The Mount. It is a gorgeous "cottage". My favorite part of the Berkshires is the scenery, the towns with little shops. Just meandering around. In Pittsfield there is an offbeat little restaurant called Reva's. Only open for breakfast and lunch.

I really appreciate the input... we are going to be there three nights and four days... As we are staying in Pittsfield I will most likely check that little cafe out... thanks.

There is a cool little wine bar (if it is still there) in Pittsfield right off the main area in town. Is a very nice spot to drop in before dinner or for some wine and cheese. Have fun!

Here's the website for Mass Moca if you need more info. or directions. MASS MoCA
Also, the Clark Museum isn't far from there.
The Clark - Make a Visit
We had the some of best blueberry pancakes ever at The Roadside Cafe.
Gould Farm
This cafe had good lunches, breakfasts and baked goods. A really cute place.
The Southfield Store - Cafe & Fine Foods
There's a really neat general store with attached post office. I couldn't find a website for them, but here's a pic on someone's blog.
New England Photos: MILL RIVER GENERAL STORE
This restaurant in Lee also had good lunches and baked goods. Cakewalk Bakery and Cafe
We didn't make it to Bash Bish Falls, but it looks beautiful in photos.
Have a great trip. I love that area of Mass.
