Default Wedding locations for small ceremony

Hello, We live in northern CT, and are looking for unique and beautiful locations to possibly have our wedding ceremony at. We're very close to the MA border and love the rural feel of Granville, Southwick and that area. We are having a small ceremony (re-marriages for both) and not many guests at the actual ceremony. We'd consider finding the perfect location and then finding a nice restaurant nearby to make advance reservations at and have a sit-down dinner vs a formal reception at ceremony site. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Sorry for only having sketchy knowledge about the place, but how about Lake Webster? (Its original name is said to be the longest single proper name in the world, something like Chungagungabungamaug lol.) It's a popular campsite and concert - mainly country - venue during warmer weather. They probably have suitable facilities in case of rain, as well as wooded and/or lakeside areas that'd be removed from most of the activity there.

It wouldn't be "rural," but you could probably find a nice spot in Springfield's Forest Park and then do the post-nuptials someplace right downtown like The Fort.

For something more offbeat that'd otherwise meet your criteria, there's the Peace Pagoda in Leverett MA: scenically situated on a hillside in a lightly settled area near Amherst and the Quabbin Reservoir. You could then take your pick of "upscale" dining establishments in either Amherst or Northampton.

Default Wedding locations.

I know there is a woman somewhere in that area (Brookfield/ Surbridge/ southwick/ nearby)who has set up her private home/estate to handle weddings. I cannot think of her name just now but I would bet if you can google something like "home wedding" or a related phrase she would pop up. She has been interviewed in local magazines. It looked like a lovely garden and reception area. This is her business so she must be listed. Keep searching and I will try to find the real info. K

Stanley park in Westfield does weddings if you are looking for an outdoor wedding. They have a rose garden and small arbor where I've seen weddings. They also have a large covered area where you can put tables and chairs if you wanted an outdoor reception too.

As far as restaurants, it depends on what kind of food you want to serve. Roma Restaurant in southwick is a large restaurant and they also have a small room that you can use for parties. It is mostly italian dishes/steak/lobster/pizza, etc.

Smile 2 possible venues for you

There's this restaurant/INN that you could check out. It's absolutely incredible IF you can have dinner and stay here. Get your map out, I have no idea how far away it is from where you live in CONN., but if you have it here? You absolutely won't be disappointed. We've driven down from New Hampshire to this awesome Inn for dinner a few times. It's our family secret, so here it is especially for you...

It's called "The Old Inn On The Green" it's located at 134 Hartsville New Marlborough Road. Rte 57, Village Green in New Marlborough, MA., 01230

Another thought for you...for a beautiful rural setting you could also check out either of these places (right across the street from each other) in Tyringham (near Lee).
Sunset Farm:
Sunset Farm B&B - a barn wedding and reception site in Berkshire county of New England in Tyringham Mass in the Berkshires near Lenox, Lee and Stockbridge, MA at a rural western Massachusetts farm.

Santarella:
Santarella - a place for your dreams to come true...
These both are in a beautiful rural location like the Old Inn On The Green - nothing around but rolling berkshire hills and forest - yet very convenient to exit 2 of the Mass Pike for people coming from Boston and NYC. Sunset has rooms for guests - I'm not sure how many. These are also very close to Lee which has a lot of reasonably affordable hotels, but as far as the Old Inn On The Green? I couldn't tell you how far away it is, like I said before to you, so you just might have to get your trusty map out for that one! I can tell you it's quite a little hike away, but OH so worth it in the end!

Good luck & Best Wishes to you both, wherever you decide to have this event!

I went to a small wedding at the Pierce House in Lincoln, MA and it was just fantastic! The ceremony was outside by the pond, with drinks and appetizers on the expansive porch. It was easy to get to from Boston.

Default but...

We did look at Santarella. Very beautiful, but small. Would be good for a small wedding under 75 or 80 people.
Its directly across the street from the evil place where we got married

If you would consider slightly more inside Mass. I would at least give a thought to the Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield. I have been to several gatherings of various sizes, and have always been pleased with the results. The Salem Cross Inn
