Living in my van in the boston area. tips?
so like the title says, i'll be living in my van starting next week so as to save up some money and chase a girl across the atlantic. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good places to park, or any public showers that might be available in the area (even if you have to pay). I'm hoping i don't have to travel very far, preferably within the route 128 ring.
any advice?

Most Wal-Mart stores allow overnight camping on their lots.
Join a health club for showers and work out. The one I belong to is ten dollars a month.
All the best to you.

haha, yeah, she's worth it. Being with her is the only time I don't feel alone. even when in the company of my closest friends I still feel alone, but not with her.
I was loosely aware that walmart allowed all night camping in their lots, the only problem is that the nearest walmart to boston is kind of a ways out; i'll end up burning lots of gas driving back and forth to work.
thanks for the tip on joining a cheap health club; thats a great idea.

I thought there was a Walmart in Alston? Maybe it's a Kmart. I haven't lived in a car in MA so I don't know how they feel about it but in many places the cops will move you along.

Why not park at Wal-Mart at night that is near a T stop (the one in Quincy might be good for this) and park at the T station during the day. It would save quite a bit of gas.

yes, actually there was a great spot I found down by the mystic river in medford. there's a parking lot with no restrictions right behind some sort of stage thingy off the mystic valley parkway. it was the perfect spot to sleep; no one ever bothered me, no street lights shining in my face as i slept, and enough foliage to allow for the occasional leakage. pretty ironic, eh?

There's a Wal-Mart in Lynn. The commute into the city is easy from there, even by the T. Don't you have a friend that will let you park your van in their driveway? What do you do for work now? Should you also be getting an additional part time job in order to save up money faster?
So what will you do for work once you move overseas to be with your girlfriend? Will you be able to get working papers over there easily?
