Default Best place to get engaged in Boston?

I've been doing the long distance thing for awhile and will continue to do so as my gf finishes grad school but it's time to pop the question. Got the ring already so the question is how to propose. Only been here a little over a year now so still don't know all the best spots. For what its worth I plan on proposing when she comes to visit in the middle of October. Possibilities so far:

Boston Public Garden
Top of the Hub (never been there, how is it?)
Gondola ride on the charles (too cold in mid-late October?)

Any thoughts are appreciated, I'm not the most creative guy but want it to be special. Thanks!!

congrats to you. I am newly married. We were engaged in aruba which was very nice but there are plenty of local spots around here to pop the question.
Top of the hub- in my opinion, overrated. Food is just ok and it is not intimate enough for an engagement.

red sox game on the big screen-if you are fans but the season is almost over so that may not work..it is only about $10 to get something on the screen- i did it once for my husband

the oak room- VERY nice steak place and intimate setting upstairs. Downstairs is too loud.

gondola on the charles river- could be nice..

dinner cruise on the odyssey

there is a lighthouse in Newburyport, Massachusetts and you pay $350 and get to dine in it for up to 6 hours and you pick from like 6 different restaurants and you have your own private server that will bring the food up to you. You also can bring music to have playing in there. That would be so nice. A little pricey but so romantic. The $350 does not include food, it goes toward the preservation of the lighthouse. Just a thought. the # is: 800-727-2326.

Good luck!!

If money is no object...

1. I would go for public garden for the actual proposal. If you are going for a stroll she won't suspect anything and you can find a somewhat private area without tons of people.

2. Have a limo pick you up at the public garden and drive you to
Newburyport.

3. Rent the Lighthouse....sounds really cool and something she'll never forget

Lars Anderson park would be a great place to pop the question. I popped the question at Halibut Point in Rockport.
