Default Reading vs Wakefield vs Andover

Hi -

I currently live on the North Shore and my family is looking to upgrade our house. We've narrowed down our selection to Wakefield, Reading, or Andover. A few questions for those of you who know the area:

1) Andover is a longer commute for me (I work in Wakefield). Is the community worth the extra drive time?

2) I'm waffling between Reading and Wakefield. Right now Wakefield seems more affordable in terms of the houses we're looking at. It has a better downtown in my opinion... However, it is mt impression that Reading has better schools. Any opinions on that matter?

3) Any other communities I should consider? I'm looking for a place where I can raise young children comfortably - so, good schools, safety is a must. A short commute to Wakefield is also considered a plus.

I just wanted other people's opinions. Thanks!

Good question. I know next to nothing about Lynnfield. What's the community like?

Hopefully, someone will chime in here with some more information for you, but here is an example of some information: http://www.city-data.com/forum/bosto...ou-perfer.html

Type "Lynnfield" in the search at the top of the Massachusetts forum and you'll see many threads where the town is mentioned. You can do it for every town you're interested in.

I believe the schools are good there.
