Default Relocating to MA

Hi folks,

I will be relocating to MA area by January. I am looking for a nice neighborhood, good schools (2 kids) and if possible, an area with a walkable downtown with nice restaurants and shops. I am not into an isolated neighborhood in which I should get in the car to go shopping. We are not into either driving through a Starbucks and get our coffee in the car. A place with a nearby walkable downtown is our ideal location. Are residents open to make new friends or just kept up to themselves? Can you help? My job will be located in Rockland. Thanks so much for your time and advice.

Victor from NJ

You posted this same thread in the NC forum - said you were relocating to work in RTP in January. Which is it, MA or NC?

I'm confused, too! victorma, you posted the same question here in dec., 2006: "The job location is Rockland but have never been there. I am looking to buy. Price range: 400-550 K. We love a quiet area with a 'main street' for shopping, cafe, etc."

That's a tough question to answer without having more info to go on. I'm not sure what's going on with your other posts, I can only give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you and your family want to move, your work will transfer you wherever they have a position and your looking at many different areas. I can only make this statement since my husband is in upper retail management and we have the exact same options or (curse). I have bopped from Ma. to Florida and back to Ma. in 2.5 years and will almost def. be moving BACK to Florida in mid 2009! Retail is NUTS! and they WILL transfer you whenever they want and wherever they want. Nowadays, you go where the money goes...unfortunately!Good luck, mybe with a bit more input from you, others will be able to answer your questions better.

Default You are right folks!

I am sorry if I confounded you all. I have received two job offers, one in NC and the other one in MA with similar salaries. My decision will be based rather in the area to live in than in the job itself.

Thanks and sorry,

Victor

Default I know

I will reformulate my question. I have been offered the same type of job and I should decide the location, NC or MA.

Victor

But where in Massachusetts? Give us a city where work will be, and reasonable and helpful suggestions will abound.

He said Rockland.

The best school systems on the South Shore would be Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham. Hingham being the town that best fits his description of what he wants.
