Default Trick or Treating Start Times?

What time does trick or treating usually start in Newton? Or in general? I presume it starts after 5pm?

Every place I've ever lived, it has pretty much started when it gets dark. If you have any specific questions, you could check the Newton Tab for notices, the city website, or call the city hall and ask them.

Unfortunately, since daylight savings time end date has been moved from the last Sat in Oct to the first Sat in Nov, it's no longer dark as early as 5PM so trick or treating has started a bit later. I'm not in Newton but I think our 'burb is similar to most anywhere. The littlest trick-or-treaters will be at my door anytime after 5PM---even if it's still light outside. The last trick-or-treaters can show up as late as 9PM and in my opinion, are usually too old to be out there! I shut out my porch light after 9PM.
