I don't think the new legislation is good reason to move to MA. I would also agree that places like Northamton, Amherst, etc. are pretty liberal with marijuana use.

Some Cape Cod (Particularly P-Town) towns as well as Nantucket and parts of Martha's Vinyard towns tend to turn the other cheek when it comes to weed (and other drugs).

Also, Providence RI, Bristol RI, and Newport RI are some of the most liberal places I've been in the US when it comes to Marijuana use. Much more open than any town in Mass.

bottom line, It's still very illegal and wherever you go you'll be risking it. All it takes is one serious cop in even the most open town to bust you and all of the towns mentioned have some serious cops. If you're serious about moving somewhere based on "Pot-Friendliness,"... I hear Amsterdam is lovely this time of year.

I knew a lot of people that smoked a lot of weed (including my dealer) that lived in Allston during college.

Allston sounds to me like a real pot friendly place around Boston.
The west coast liberals and east surely differ lol.

How would you segregate an area as being "pot friendly?" Would this be akin to what areas have a lot of college students, younger crowds? Truthfully, I wouldn't consider any area in New England as being "pot friendly". Sadly, this proposition has people in other states thinking we're pot friendly. It was really about not destroying someones life who might have got busted with a roach in their ashtray....that was all.

Unintended side effects of the law I guess. If it does end up being a pot haven for east coast people, I'm sure there will be economic benefits for locals and ticket revenue for government coffers.
