Default What is holliston like?

My husband has a job prospect in Marlborough and we are looking into towns around there. We have children in elementary and middle so good schools are important - as is a great town center and New England feel. I don't want to be too rural, though.I need to be within 10 min. of some stores and get into Boston once in a while. Newton would be my top pick but it's too pricey. My budget is around 400,000 for a 3 bedroom home. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Thank you for your reply. It's always been a dream of mine to walk to a downtown...I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY and taking a car everywhere just is the pits for me.I live outside Atlanta now so as you can imagine I live in my car! Can you send me a link to the house you mentioned...? What are your summers and winters like up there? Also, about how long do you think it will take to get into Boston 1)driving? 2)going to the closest rail and taking a train?
This website is a blessing to people moving out of state...so informative!

Hi Ray - From downtown Holliston the closest train station is downtown Framingham (about a 10 minute drive). Here's the train schedule: MBTA Commuter Rail > Framingham / Worcester Lines Schedules and Maps

Driving would take about 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic. Sometimes it's a breeze, other times it's dreadful.

Summers are nice. We usually have a week or so with uncomfortable humidity when you really need A/C. This past summer was lovely though. Winters are long. Sometimes we get more snow than others but by the time late Feb rolls around most people are more than ready for spring. I'd definately say finding a place with a garage makes a huge difference in tolerating the snow! :-) And having good access to public transit!
