Moving to Boston (Cambridge, Brookline, Arlington: to rent, houses, public school)

Hi All,
We r considering moving from Ridgewood,Nj to Cambridge,MA near boston
due to job relocation and I have a young family and would like to rent initally in Boston, I just want to get some names of towns which has great schools,very safe and nice place to raise the family and which appreciates diversity and has good public transportation to Harvard square

There are lots of young families from all over the world in the city of Cambridge because of Harvard and MIT, so I'd focus your search there first. The towns of Arlington and Belmont would provide you with an an easy commute to Harvard Square by bus (under 30 mins), and you could get more bang for your buck in those towns (more houses with yards, etc). You might also want to look in Brookline- good schools but more of a commute, though the 66 bus would be an option. The four towns I've mentioned have much better schools than the Boston Public School system.
