^I've read many of your other posts and highly respect your opinion and enjoy reading what you contribute. I just dislike blanket statements with no foundation or supporting evidence that might scare someone away that may otherwise love a particular location. I know you apologized in advance, and since I'm not from Rhode Island, I'm not offended nor could I accept any apology; but advance apologies imply that you know what you're saying may not be the right thing. I guess it's a pet peeve. I've seen so many, "That place SUCKS!" and "Don't go to that town, it's Ghetto!" with nothing to back up the statement so getting defensive is sort of knee-jerk at this point. No hard feelings, we all have bad moods!

Cheers!

Well, thanks Irfox. And you're right, those blanket statements are moronic. You just kind of roll your eyes.... But I do stupid things all day long, so I am not shocked by my shortcomings.

In defense of the editing, it's too bad because while the site that you linked may be the Rhode Island MLS site, the advertising banner at the top of the page is for a specific agent/agency. IF I were a Rhode Island agent, I would be FURIOUS that the MLS that I pay to be part of sells advertising space on the front page! Contrast that with the NH MLS: Northern New England Real Estate Network - Official Website of the Northern New England MLS. Agent contact information should only be on their listings. Period.

Thanks for providing the link anyway Hollytree--it's interesting to see how other MLS systems work

Valerie has explained it nicely. If you can link to general MLS listings that don't have ads for specific realtors, that's fine. Also a referral to craigslist is okay, such as "I see some properties there that meet your criteria", but don't post the actual ads for the properties themselves. Any questions about the policy, should be via direct message.

Yes. If not related, they all know each other. This state is very clannish...it helps considerably to be Italian.

I don't know EXACTLY what was meant by this comment, but I'll agree that it can be "clannish" and "cliquey."

The "I hear they're all related in RI" comment, to me anyway, implied that they are all inbred. Clevedark, if that's not what you meant, then I apologize for all of my previous posts.

There's a big difference between being inbreeding and having a lot of cliques. I will agree RI has a lot of cliques since many Rhode Islanders are LOOONG time Rhode Islanders.

NO, Not inbred...but some very large families, spread out across a small state, that have lived here for generations. Look at some of the commercials, like the Tasca Ford...its all about FAMILY, and if you're not family you'll stay a stranger.

The only group I associate with inbreeding are the very tippy top of the Boston Brahmins. They are wicked that way.
