Default Seeking CA to MA mover experience

We are moving from SF bay area to Boston metrowest. Noticed there are quite some folks done the CA -> MA move.

Any recommendation/experience you could share in terms of the moving companies? Besides the household stuff, we also need to ship two cars. Should we hire different company to do that or a moving company can do both household and car?

Welcome to MA! We moved from Campbell years ago. There are a few different options for moving cars. You can have it trailered (most expensive option but also safest & no mileage added to vehicles). There are also services that connect you with students or others willing to drive a vehicle cross-country, much less expensive but you wrack up mileage. We chose the latter option and were pleased except we did have a bit of minor damage to the interior of the car. I think there is some sort of in-between option that's less expensive than trailering but still wraps up mileage. We did this years go though so I don't recall the details. At the time we were looking for the least expensive option. We also shipped some things via UPS (bad idea - nearly everything that could be broken was!).

I've heard very good things about NorthStar Moving. They're headquartered in LA but I believe they have service across California and offer cross-country moves.

Best of luck!

It's only 3,000 miles from CA to MA. Just change the oil before and after the trip. The added mileage of 3,000 is really quite negligible to the value of the car.

Thank you for all who replied in a public thread or through direct message. Most likely we are going to use DAS as the car shipper as driving two cars across country during the winter month is not something fun to deal with.

Many of my relo clients have chosen Gentle Giant as their mover, and I've honestly never heard a complaint. Maybe a coincidence, but it's refreshing to hear about how good a job movers did instead of the usual horror show...
