Default Buying in Methuen

Hello....I hope someone can be of help. I am thinking of buying a home in Methuen. It is located in the area of Forest St. and Haverill St. /110. Can anybody shed some light on the area. I visited the property over the weekend and the neighborhood seemed nice enough. Near a pretty busy area. Wondering mainly about crime in the area (and anything else anyone can add about the area). Thanks.

We just moved to Methuen in May and haven't had anything but a positive experience. We are at the corner of N. Lowell (113) & Observatory Drive (which is off of Forest... the water tower). Unfortunately we live on a very busy road but the neighborhood behind us is so nice that we couldn't resist. Trick or treating this year was fun and everyone is so friendly. From what we gathered in our investigation West of 93 is best. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

I'd avoid anything off of Lowell St - east of route 93. It's too close to 'downtown'. Observatory Dr is really nice. WEST of 93 is nice. We live off Riverside Dr, east of 93. Lots of Lawrence people at the park & drug deals, etc going on... I'm not happy about it. We also have a level 3 sex offender that just got out of prison living around the corner. Check the methuen police dept's website...

Hi CalWorthington What does your Buyer's Agent have to say about the area? Maybe they can pull some police reports for you? You'll want to check for sex offenders in the area. I would also suggest visiting the neighborhood at various times of day, and this weekend with the warm weather is the perfect time to park and walk around the neighborhood a bit. Decent and quiet during the daytime might turn to something else at night, especially on weekends. Again, your Buyer's Agent (assuming you have one) can be a valuable resource, and they most likely will be expecting you to ask about these types of common questions when you're considering buying in a city... All the best
