Time Is Ticking Away...
I've been running over the numbers and statistics in general and I would have to disagree with the negative feedback I have gotten from others when it comes to moving back to Massachusetts from Florida. I've heard the spiel about how brutal the winter weather is going to be and how the job opportunities are considered to be rather barren in Franklin County compared to the Tampa Bay area and I am still not going to be put off. I've lived in Mass. for 24 years prior to moving down to Florida and have had to opportunity to see the best of both worlds and believe that it will work for me again. I'll be making a trip up to Mass. in early Feb. to survey the area apartments and locations to make my final decision. Im hoping that everything will work out for the best for me and that the decision that I am making is the right one but I suppose time will tell. Right now I am also considering job options in Northampton,Springfield and Hartford Conn. if need be which I also realize is out of the Franklin county area. Regardless of what the outcome may be I am extremely optimistic about moving back and I cannot wait to be back up North. If anyone has any lines on some great apartment deals in the area or of any sights that link into the most job opportunities it would be appreciated.

Last time I moved back to Mass., I found out how cold it still is. One day I slid down to my vehicle and when I came back home I had to struggle to get to the trunk of the vehicle to get some sand (from a bag) to throw where I was going to step - in order to get to the house. It looked like a commedy act........ but if you don't mind that kind of experience - go for it - it is still pretty !!! Jobs up there (in this economy) I don't know about.

Come on, it's not that cold. The weather is unpredictable at best but that's the beauty of living in New England.

I agree New England weather in unpredictable to say the least and you never know what to expect some seasons had allot of snow while others brought no snow at all. The economy is another issue in which I plan to put to the test when it comes to job availability in that area. I'm sure that I will also look pretty comedic when it comes to readjusting to the area and all the challenges that it has to offer.

I wouldn't live anywhere else.
You can go to masslive.com to see about jobs. Other than that I am not sure where else. I don't know what your skills are but Liberty Mutual just opened an office in Springfield, they may still be hiring.
You can look on masslive for apartments, too, but I am not sure where you want to be.
After visiting florida during Halloween one year, I decided that after spending my whole life in New England, the holidays just are not the same when you are not in a climate that gets cold. I mean, I also was in the caribbean for a couple years, and hearing a raegge rendition of the little drummer boy was odd too, but I knew that was a temporary thing and we came home for the holidays.
So moving South is not just a change in the weather, it really affects more than your daily life. It is almost a bit of a cultural change. Forget the nice pine garland and snowman Christmas/winter decor in the house (Do they decorate with that down there? Seems it would be out of place). So, these warm climates are just strange for the holidays, IMO. I suppose if you are from there or somewhere warm, it would seem normal to you.

I too want to move back. Have been in NC for 21 years! I looked at apts. on craigslist and was happily surprised, not bad at all in the central and western areas.
Yeah it's a cultural thing I guess once a New Englander always... NC is just too hot and too conservative.
