Expensive is a relative term....

Boston is cheap if you come from NYC or certain parts of CA...

Rugged Bear has a outlet warehouse in the back of their regular store near Norwood center. The warehouse is a not very fancy and a little run down but they have a huge selection and great prices.

when you shop for kids clothing you do learn to buy at the end of the season, and buy quality to pass down, and go up one size larger. if you buy cheap, it wears out real fast. LL bean is real quality and will last, and then hand it down. Even Sears migh have boots, since at that age size
does change. But warm jackets, ll Bean. Orvis is good also. The boots etc try sears. As another poster did state Lands end, which sears as the squall jacket, I have one going on 16 years old, had it on today. It looks as great as when I did buy it.

The Rugged Bear in Chestnut Hill is reasonably priced and they're having a sale. You can get kids snowpants there for 15 bucks and coats for 40 bucks. It's comparable to Lands End. I can never get more than two years out of my kids' stuff--they always outgrow faster than I think

REI is a fancy store for technically advanced sports clothes--I would never buy kids' stuff there! The same goes for City Sports. A hundred bucks for skipants for kids! That's crazy.
