Good shopping malls or areas for winter clothes
Hello,
We are moving to Boston from California in a week and would like to know where we can find winter boots and clothes for our little ones (6 and 4). Is there a nice mall or store with good selections?
We are staying somewhere in the West suburbs....
Thank you in advance for your input and help!!!

Hi Laura. Depends on your price range. Unlike CA, you can find winter clothes and boots everywhere, even in Target. If you are staying West of Boston, try Natick Collection, on Route 9 in Natick. It's a beautifull Mall that has been recently expanded and renovated. I got my kid's coats at Dick's sporting goods across the street from the Mall. Boots are from Target. Bonus- most everything is on sale now. Good luck.
p.s. we moved here 8 1/2 years ago from Orange County, and live in the Metrowest (Southborough). Welcome!

Laura,
Go online now and order order some things from LL Bean while they are having their sale. They have adult and kids clothes. For adults, I highly recommend the LL Bean boots. The Rugged Ridge Jacket is very warm and waterproof (you'll need both for new England). Also get yourself some silk underwear and make sure everyone has gloves!

The Rugged Bear has nice, good priced stuff, too. There's a location in Chestnut Hill and I think they're online, too.

Lands End is available is Sears. I always liked the Squall Parka for myself and my children. Not too bulky but still warm.

Woof!'s suggestion is a good one. LLBean and Lands End are the well known New England purveyor's of winter clothes and are having great sales now with free shipping and all that. The Natick mall will be closest to you if you will be in the Western Suburbs and has lots of good stores, as was already pointed out - Dick's, Sears, Kohl's, Macy's Bob's etc. If you are up for a drive, there are outlet stores in Wrentham, probably about a 30-40 mins south. LOTS of good stores. Good if you want to make a day of shopping.

Go to REI (Recreational Equipment Inc) which is right by Rte 30/Rte 9 on the Framingham/Natick line. Many high-quality brands, including kids' stuff. If via catalog/Net, try LL Bean, Land's End, or Backcountry.com.

Although so is Rugged Bear. It is certainly cheaper to find stuff online or through a place like LL Bean, especially for kids, and I can attest their kids' stuff is high-qual also, but the only Bean's stores around are in Burlington and Mansfield. If those aren't convenient for the poster, REI's probably in a good location given what poster said.
