Default Housatonic

Can't speak for what it's like now, but I was born and raised there. Could not have asked for a better place. The job market is non-existant unless you are an artist. You would need to travel to Great Barrington or Pittsfield to get work. If your looking for a very small town feel where you know just about everyone, Housatonic is just the place.

Housatonic is really nice and quaint and is the more affordable part of Great Barrington -- it's actually a village in Great Barrington. You get nice older homes there, but less yard/land than in other areas of Great Barrington and Southern Berkshire County in general. But I love Housatonic -- we have good friends who live in Great Barrington and we were visiting them just a couple weeks ago and were in Houstaonic... In our search over the past several months for a vacation home in the Berkshires, we found many fabulous houses in Houstaonic, but we wanted several acres, so it was ultimatley not an option for us.... If resale will be an issue for you, Great Barrington is a solid investment as is most of Southern Berkshire County as opposed to Northern Berkshire County.
