Default i will work in falmouth, he will work in boston - where to live?

my husband and i are looking for a town that would be somewhere in the middle of these two places. we are in our early thirties. we would like to be near a commuter rail. we initially want to rent for the first year, to get a feel for the area, and then hopefully buy in a town where we could start a family, so the quality of the schools is important. also, we are a biracial couple, and we have had problems with racism in massachusetts before, so i would like a community that is diverse. i know that is difficult to find south of boston, so any suggestions would be great. thank you.
