I would appreciate a referral to a good rental agent for the Boston suburb area. We are hoping to move over the summer from California and don't have a lot of time to look for ourselves so a good agent is imperative. Also, any suggestions on how honest to be about having four little dogs when it comes to rentals? Thanks in advance...how are you doing Smarty..long time no hear!

A lot of the agents I found only worked in a small geographical area. For me, for example, the one I used only dealt w/rentals in Newton/Watertown/Waltham. So it would depend on which neighborhood you're looking at. If you're interested in renting in Newton, PM me and I can give you the name of my agent. I worked with several of the larger agencies in the area and they were all terrible. The guy I used has a smaller firm and he was on top of things.

How would you describe Auberndale and Upper Falls area and what parts, if any, should we not consider in Newton?

I was wondering what rental agent you used in Newton. One of my friends and I are looking for someone who knows the newton/waltham area.

Thanks!

Parsec, I would appreciate if you could post or PM me the name and contact info for the agent you used. I'm always looking for good agents to add to my referral network. Nothing against the national chains, but I feel that agents who work for small independent offices tend to work harder AND smarter for their clients. We just don't have that national name brand recognition" and big $$ TV ad campaigns to fall back on...
Thanks

rkamerman, George Coleman is a 3rd generation real estate agent in Waltham. He sold my grandmother's house and seems like a standup guy. (781) 446-2903. I don't know if he does rentals or just sales but might be worth a call to check.

Sorry, I didn't end up using an agent for Newton. We found our places ourselves using Craigslist and Boston.com. We ended up moving to Concord.

Hi Puffle, I was actually responding to the poster who inquired about the same thing later in the thread. I'm glad you found a place though. Are you enjoying Concord? :-)

I used Roberta Landau from the REMAX on Rt9 in Newton. Just in case you are looking for a rental agent.
