Default Where's the money in Bedford?

I posted a while ago on the potential differences between living in Bedford and Concord. I have been researching more and more, driving through both towns and trying to get a feel for them. I love Concord, but am also drawn to Bedford, however, I'm having a hard time figuring out why! Other than a great school system and a safe environment, what is so great about Bedford? And where is all the money?? Housing prices are high and I keep hearing it referred to as an affluent town, but I can't find the parts of the town that would suggest big money! The town actually looks a bit rundown and not very well taken care of.

Am I wrong? I hope I am, because I really like what the school district has to offer. Are there any parts of Bedford in which you actually have front yards and not another house in your backyard? Is there any newer construction? Are there areas in which people take really great care of the neighborhoods??

Someone please give me good news about Bedford!

I know what you mean--I felt the same way about Cohasset (totally got it) and Hingham (I would drive through and think why do people think this is so great??).

Default Big money??

Bedford is considered the poor cousin of Concord...... Many who cannot afford Concord move to Bedford. Housing and income level is much lower than Concord. Housing in "rich" town like Concord is $600+K vs Bedford $400+K.

There are houses with front and back yards. Just look at the listings with lot size greater than 20,000sq ft.

Nothing wrong with Bedford, many just do not like having BIG airport or army base in the middle of town. As previous posters says, if you want more land look at Lincoln, Concord and Sudbury.
