Beauty Salon?
Almost time to get my hair did. Can anyone recommend a GREAT, FABOO salon? I live in Sharon, but can travel a reasonable distance for an exceptional stylist. I can even go into Boston (cringe) if I have to, and can take the train. I am in dire need of a COLORIST most specifically, and don't mind going to different salons for color/cut.
TIA!

Com'on.... I know SOMEONE knows of a great salon. Guys - ask that girl with the gorgeous hair in the cubicle down the hall.
Sure it's a little superficial to be worried about something as trivial as a stylist - but I'm mentally scarred from that time in 5th grade when my mom gave me the "Annie" perm, what can I say...

You are wise to worry--I'm still scarred from the massive hair frying a "colorist" gave me down on the south shore six years ago.
My previous fantastic colorist (in another state) told me to find a salon in the Intercoiffure network, an international accreditation group--you can find it on the web--when I moved here. There was no salon with that designation in the area I moved to, hence the hair-frying debacle from which I don't think I'll ever recover.
Since then I moved closer to Boston and tried two salons in that network for haircuts only, one in Brighton (can't remember the name, on Comm Ave.) and one in Newton called Genesis. The one in Brighton was fine, cute and trendy and young. I stopped going there for no reason, really, and tried Genesis in Newton. The haircut was about a hundred bucks, and it was ok, but not great. The salon seemed geared to a much older crowd. I stopped going because I lost my hair due to medication. I was underwhelmed anyway so the timing was right.
In the meantime, I've been bringing my girls for cuts to a really nice salon in Brookline called HC studio, to a gal named Grace. It's busy in there, and Grace seems to give a nice cut. When I have enough hair to do something with I'll probably go there. And then Grace will probably jump ship. LOL.
Most people will tell you to go to Newbury Street in Boston for cuts and color and spend alot of $$$. I knew a few women on the South Shore who did that regularly and their hair did not look great, the usual bleached fry job. But I don't know the specific salon or colorist. They might have all been going to the same butcher, who knows.
If I were you, with a need for a decent colorist, I'd look in the Intercoiffure website for a place convenient to drive to, like in Wellesley, a nice rich suburb. Ask for their most experienced colorist and you should be fine. A salon in a town like that should be really solid.
Good luck!

I went in there for something minor shortly after moving to the area. From my impressions - I wouldn't get my hair done there. It's clean and I wasn't turned off by the salon or staff - I just didn't get the impression that they would be up on current trends, etc. It appears to be a salon that would cater to an older clientele.
I have made an appointment at Savoy in Canton, based on an enthusiastic endorsement by a co-worker.

AandD I have a fantastic hairdresser in Abington...she is incredible. I used to go to Dellaria and they ruined my hair plus charged 200.00 a month.
This girl has fixed it and it has been four years and I love her and can highly recommend her.
If interested feel free to DM me and I would be happy to give you her name and number and you can call her to see if she is taking on any new clients.

Call Ray at Bizarre in Easton, MA.
The shop is by no means posh but he is a master cutter and colorist. He's been dry cutting for years- long before it became a hot trend.
My hairdresser fell off the face of the earth and I floundered for a while. So many of the shops I went to were stuck in the 80's. A friend gave me a gift certificate over a year ago and I have been going to Ray ever since. I travel over an hour for an appointment with him every 5 weeks.
He also changes up my look regularly and is up to date with current trends.
