Default suggestions on area to stay

we will be coming to mass in July this year and do not want to go in overly crowded areas.

We would like to be fairly near the ocean so would appreciate any info and places of recommendation to stay in hotels

"Near the ocean" covers a lot of territory in the Bay State, everywhere from the South Coast to Cape Cod to the South Shore to the North Shore to Cape Ann and beyond. Most of the coastal areas will naturally be "overly crowded" during July. Without a more specific inquiry, here are some ideas for towns to stay in while you're here:

Buzzards Bay
Plymouth
Hull
Marblehead
Gloucester
Rockport
Essex
Ipswich
Newburyport
Salisbury

This list ranges from south to north. A more useful online forum might be tripadvisor.com, where you can read all about various destinations and places to stay therein.
