Default Best areas of Worcester for singles

Hi there,

Can anyone share advice on the best parts of Worcester for a young, single professional? A client of ours asked and I guess I'm getting too old to know! Most of our clients reloing here are young families with children, not people looking for nightlife but this client is in his late 20s and wants to know about music, clubs, fitness centers, etc. & neighborhoods where you can walk to get coffee, go to shops, etc. I'd welcome any input.

Many thanks!

There are none. There is NO gay scene in Worcester. It is an EXTREMELY CLOSETED city with ONE gay bar, and the bar does not even have a sign...and it's ALWAYS DEAD, and it is tucked away underneath an interstate bridge. I know this is hard to believe since Worcester the third largest city in NE (used to be the second) but I am not exaggerating. People outside Mass think it is a gay mecca because of the whole gay marriage thing. Mass lucked out with a few liberal politicians but most people in Mass are not tolerant. They have attempted to turn the Water Street area into a gay area. They opened a gay club and novelty/book store. However, because everyone was afraid to go, they both closed within a year. There is absolutely NOTHING in Worcester. You picked the wrong city. Fortunately, Worcester is less than an hour from Worcester, Providence and Northampton. Those cities have a lot to offer! Good luck!

As far as the mainstream singles scene is concerned, Worcester is a college town and offers nothing for anyone over the age of 23. Hope you like glowsticks! They tried to open an 25 and over bar. Again, that changed very quickly because they were not making any money. The Worcester area is a great place for families but not single people. It's just pitifully boring. Providence and Boston rock, though!

Have you ever been to Northampton or Provincetown?
We didnt just luck out thanks to a few politicians, or I think you meant judges.

I know in southeastern Mass most people under 50 are more than happy about the decision to legalize gay marriage. In high school, not some, most of my friends were gay. So I dont know what youre talking about.

Yes,Northampton and Provincetown are nowhere near Worcester. As for the gay marriage thing, politicians lobby judges. Yes the vote was 4-3. We were lucky. If it went to a popular vote, it would never happen. HAve you ever been to Worcester? I have. I need to paint a realistic picture about Worcester to this person and make the proper recommendations. My picture of Worcester is correct. It is not an exagerration. Obviously you have never been there.

Sorry, my original posting was supposed to say that Worcester is less than an hour from Boston, Providence and Northampton. My bad.
