Default Point Shore Amesbusy vs. Newburyport

Can anyone comment on Point Shore in Amesbury? Seems a great area. Don't like Amesbury much at all in general, but this area is cute.

How does this compare to Newburyport for housing prices, resale value, desirability, if in Point Shore but not waterfront?

where exactly is Point Shore?

In general, Newburyport is a nicer, more desirable, better resale value, and more expensive town.

Amesbury has a cute downtown with a good assortment of restaurants and seems to continue to be up and coming. I guess it depends on your budget and long term outlook. You'll definitely get more for your money in Amesbury.

I don't know where Point Shore is? I used to live in Newburyport, & worked in Amesbury. Both cities are lovely. Amesbury has my favorite ice cream shop Welcome to Hodgies Ice Cream.

Default Point Shore

Hi. Point Shore is the road in Amesbury that runs along the Merrimack River with all the big homes. It is the road Lowell's Boat Shop is on.

If you were to cross the Chain Bridge and Hines Bridge, then take a left turn, you are on that road. I think the road starts as Evans Place, then turns into Main Street, then into Pleasant Valley Road.

Don't know if these links came out but here are a few pictures of Point Shore.

It is one of the nicest sections of Amesbury, sort of like Rocks Village in Haverhill. It's not far from Newburyport, you can cut through Clarks Rd which runs between Friendlys and Burger King off of 150 and come out shortly right down by the water and Point Shore.

Tough call. We love Newburyport, but can't afford a house here. We made the mistake once of leaving Newburyport and building a new house in Rowley, and couldn't wait to get back to Newburyport.

Point Shore, however, is very different from Rowley. We would lose the "walkability" factor of Newburyport, though.

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry - that's Clarks Rd off 110, not 150, heading out to Stop and Shop plaza.
