Default Any info on life in Southampton, MA?

Hi - my husband and I are considering buying a home in Southampton, MA. We love the liveliness of Northampton, but it's too pricey and we wanted more space, so we found Southampton to be a great, close possibility that seems like it would be a great place to raise kids.

I know there's a Big Y and some additional basic shopping on College Highway, but I'm wondering what other life there is? Are there any restaurants, bars, coffee shops, or other (non-food) shops that are not obviously on that main road? What about local festivals, events, etc?

Any info is appreciated!

western mass and love it is on a distinguished road
Southampton in my opinion is more of a sleepy little hill town with not much to do. I am sure if you went into NOHO or Westfield you would find lots of things to do.even going farther into the Springfield and Holyoke, West Springfield area you would find even more things to do.It is a pretty decent area and there lots of things to do,you just have to know what you want to do. Do not let the folks from eastern ma tell you that we are all farmers and hicks past 495. We actually have roads and buildings and jobs, and some of us actually live in a multi family house.(these last few sentences were written in jest)
