Default Reading, MA Condos

My fiancee (23) and I (25) are thinking of buying a condo in Reading and would like to know if its a good investment. We wanted to move away from the city, but still have decent commutes to Cambridge and Waltham for work.

We are looking in other areas, but just wanted some opinions.

Are you asking about whether buying in Reading is a good investment or whether a condo is a good investment? In general a single-family home is a better financial investment than a condo. However, lifestyle wise some people prefer condos. Just be careful about fees. Some places have rather steep fees for snow removal, landscaping, etc. If you're asking about Reading that's a judgment call but I know there was an article recently showing which towns have retained their value best during this economic slowdown. I'll look for it tomorrow and post the link if I find it.

In the meantime, may I ask, why wouldn't you want to just live in Waltham or Cambridge?
