People are leaving that state because of high taxes, high cost of living, and low standard of living, which is only going to get worse if the trend continues. The middle class is squeezed and there is a high birth rate among the poor and a healthy influx of immigrants. I left and saw an increase in my standard of living. New Hampshire is nice, but many people from Massachusetts are moving there and taking their liberal politics with them, which is a shame.

You might want to check out other states, unless you want to reform politics.
You shouldn't be so surprised, about it showing up on the ballot, because back in 2002 we had a similar question on the ballot, and the state vote for it. Unfortunately, the state house voted to undo the measure because they said we needed the money. And, this time, while alot support the measure they where scared into reject the idea out of fears that the state was already in the red.

By the way, I might agree that moving to another state might benefit the lower middle class and some of the middle class, when it comes to the rest of the middle class Massachusetts is the third cheapest state to be in tax-wise, (If you only count states with high paying jobs) following by Illinois (if you don't mind the dramatic weather) and Texas (If you don't mind the heat). Otherwise, you are better off getting just a place outside the 128 where it's cheaper, or the 495 where it even cheaper, and you will be fine.

Otherwise, I'd find another state.

You are 1000% correct. I bet she didn't even realize she had said that.
Massachusetts is full of holier than thou, do as I say, nanny state liberals. Libertarians ? No way. If you find a town like that, let me know.

I'd agree. You might find a libertarian type town in Western MA, but other than that the only state in New England that comes close is New Hampshire.

This here sounds like something where if you pose an opposing view, you wont be respected just for the fact you opened your mouth.
I grew up in MA for 22 yrs but left for 5. Grew up around Lowell but I just dont think in the 1 party form. I support Ron Paul.
However, I dont have too many choices on where to live at this time and am moving back to MA in a few weeks. Everyplace is going downhill in this country, but ever since I grew a taste for libertarianism and realized its how I shoulda been the whole time, it might be hard to deal with some of the MA residents in the event I do bring up opposing viewpoints.
I know many dont want to believe the US Govt is behind a lot of things.
I know Cambridge is communist for the most part.
How bout towns like Fitchburg? It moves a little west.

Vermont seems too commie so I wont put them on the list and RI seems not too much different from MA.

Maine is in some parts...definitely not as liberal as MA, VT, RI, or CT. I saw your a Ron Paul supporter...I am also. It would be nice if people would stop voting for the same politicians who aren't changing anything. Obama saying he was for change when all he has done is take Bush's economic policies to the next level and made government even bigger. Still the same bad Keynesian economics that continues not to work.
