I have heard varied things about White pond in concord. Can you swim in this pond...is it dog friendly...what is the neighborhood there like?

I grew on on Powder Mill Road. The area is a nice residential area and very low key. White's Pond is a private area and requires membership to visit and swim in the pond. I don't know if it's dog friendly. Walden Pond is free though.

There are some nearby nature trails off of Rt. 117 near Nine Acre Corners in Concord that many people take their dogs along with. I see many of them off leash with their owners.
It's still a private pond. Access is by membership only. Members swim there in the summertime. I don't remember anyone fishing there. However, I have seen people fishing along the Sudbury River.
I don't think that there are any hunting areas within the town of Concord. It's just too residential. And any open areas are wildlife preserves. So what do you want to go hunting for?
Walden Pond is set up to accommodate swimmers, with parking lots, restrooms etc. White Pond is much smaller, it's not even half the size of Walden, and not set up for public swimming.
White Pond is not accessible through the private properties that surround most of the pond. Ignorant people park cars on top of plants, break glass, leave beer cans, disposable diapers and random trash, cause erosion problems which lead to algae growth, disturb the wildlife and disturb the residents who have paid dearly to have a quiet natural place to live. I've seen people try to drive their cars on a path intended only as a hiking path. One who got stuck tried to use a birch tree to help pull their car out and broke the tree. It's sickening how thoughtless people can be.

Ignorant people also yell at perfectly law abiding citizens traveling to the pond on a town maintained public path. I think there a some misinformed homebuyers who were under the impression that the entire pond was included in their HOA fee....

Are you talking about the path that's accessible from the Sudbury border? I think people use it to sneak into the area from the south side of the pond, but they're technically not allowed on there. The path from the Concord resident parking lot is legal, but you need a pass.

Exactly. I grew up in Sudbury and people would always park in the parking lot for the business/school right next to that path. Residents would always yell at us and call the police for being in the area. Once the residents walked away cops would always tell us that as long as we were respectful (as most people were) we were not considered an issue.
